Istex Lopi is a traditional Icelandic yarn made from the fur of Icelandic sheep, because they live in a cold climate, their wool has unique characteristics. The sheep there have a double coat, which is spun together. The wool is lighter but also a bit stiffer than most other wool types, but it softens over time. The wool breathes well and is water-repellent. This makes Icelandic wool very suitable for warm cardigans with knitted patterns and warm wool coats.

On the left you can search by weight, composition and needle size. Please note that some yarns can be used on various needles, the weight per meter is more important than the needle thickness. Depending on how the knit should look like (lace / transparent or tight), you choose the needle.

If you want to know more about those weights , read the blog I have devoted to it.
